High Fives Foundation and MasterCraft Launch adaptive wake surf program at Lake Tahoe

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) -The High Fives Foundation, a local nonprofit, has teamed up with MasterCraft Boat Company to launch an adaptive wake surf program at Lake Tahoe, providing unparalleled access to water sports for adaptive athletes and veterans.

“This boat is creating long-lasting memories and opportunities that may not have been possible otherwise,” Roy Tuscany, CEO and Founder of High Fives shared.

High Fives is dedicated to preventing sports injuries and supporting those with life-changing injuries. It was inspired by the founder’s own experience with a ski accident in 2006. “I wanted to ensure others had the chance to get back outdoors and reconnect with the community through sport,” Tuscany explained.

Taylor and Sophie, both injured in separate accidents, are proof of the program’s impact. Sophie, on her second swim and first wake surfing attempt, what seems impossible- possible.

The foundation encourages those with life-altering injuries to explore their offerings, from adaptive mountain biking to skiing.

Sophie and Taylor encouraging others with disabilities to keep trying new things. It sometimes just takes time.
