Swing or folding tongue on a 205 trailer?

I am looking at putting a folding tongue on a 1996 205 trailer. It does not look like there is enough room for a bolt on one as there is on single place long enough to accommodate it. I think that I am going to have to install a weld on one, but that is even going to be close. It looks like it will be right up against the winch brace.

I would rather not replace the entire tongue with a new unit, but that is an option too. Just more $$

Has anyone does this and if so, do you have some pics?

Sodar did a trailer refurb and added the swing away trailer tongue on it.

I had a swing tongue installed last year.

About $120 from a local welder to cut and weld it in. Very pleased with results.

PS190 trailer, but you get the idea. The bolt on product did not look trustworthy to me.

After looking at this, I am still uncertian. I only have an inch or two between what looks like my master cylinder and the support brace for the winch. I am not sure that this is enough to weld on both the outside and inside of the hinge?

Wouldn't it make it longer after installing this piece so room for it would be moot? I have the same trailer and have this on my list of projects

My concern is that it looks like the weld on fulton, you cut the frame, slide the new hinge over both ends of the trailer tube and then weld it on. The kit, and the installation showen above looks like there is two welds per half. On on each end. If I cut it in the middle, I will only have 3/4" of frame to slide into the hinge to weld on to. That does not seem like enough?

I see your point and I don't have the answer but I'm curious, maybe someone will come along and enlighten us.

You could always make the tongue longer... talk to a welder... they really know their stuff. The welded section is actually part of the actuator so you can probably have the whole part replaced.

Do you have to extend the brake lines and emergency brake wire??or just re-route?
