What a difference a day and different lake makes. Went to Lake Georgetown and no one driving like fools. Even the Lake Lice were courteous.

told ya it was a nice little lake

even on a busy day, it is limited to the number of boats due to limited parking at the three parks, unlike most other area lakes ... plus, there are normally at least one game warden boat and/or Army Corp park ranger boat somewhere roaming the waters during daylight hours

Most of the time decent water can be found somewhere on lake Georgetown due to wind. The prevailing winds are from the southeast and south. When out of the SE, right along the dam usually is a nice spot and directly east of Russell park along the bluffs. When directly out of the south, there are various spots along the south shore line by Cedar Breaks park and along the shore directly south of Russell park. The problem is usually not the wind, but from rollers off other boats.

compared to Lake Austin, it is much shorter, probably only about 8-9 miles long but wider. Also, Lake Austin there isn't any limit to the number of boats that can be launched on any given day (plus waterfront homes with boats on dock) where Lake Georgetown only has 3 ramps (4 lane wide each) at the 3 parks and the Army Corp limits the number of boats to the number of trailer parking spots in the parks. I have sat outside the gate a number of times waiting on one boat to leave before they will allow another in, could be a few minutes up to hours.

The parks are Cedar Breaks (south east end closest to dam) and Jim Hogg (middle north side) fill up quickest due to access and proximity to town. Russell (western most on north side) is quite a haul driving around that has a public swim beach but fewer boats usually launch there.

Yes, there can be idiots out there too, but only as many as there are trailer parking spots

oh yeah, there aren't any marinas, gas or restaurants on lake Gtown either but there is a super HEB (large grocery) less than 5 miles from the Cedar Breaks and Jim Hogg for food supplies & fuel.

Thanks fo rthe info. I should be back in San Antonio late July early August. I will have to try out that lake. Austin is nice, but it gets a little too crazy with the drucken boaters flying by, or the inconsiderate boaters who try to see how close they can come to a downed skier or tube.

with it a little less than 4 miles from garage to ramp, works well for us when there is enough water.

We spent all day Tuesday on Lake Austin. What a difference a day makes. We were almost the only boat on the water.
