Instead of using the overflow to fill the IBS, perhaps you could try a tee after the pump so that you have a line going to each bag.

That could be another idea if this new plumbing doesn't work.
Do reversible pumps stop bags from siphoning if they are below the water line? |

I think I said this earlier, but I have a three way valve right after the pump mounted in the starboard locker on the back of the seat. It splits the line between the ski locker sac and bow sac.

Right, Ive decided to totally redo the front ballast using a Johnson Ultra ballast reversible pump, a remote "Y" valve and new plumbing.
Here's some progress pics, and I'll post up a diagram of how Ive run the plumbing. Pulling it all apart ![]() Easy access now and the old fill line ![]() The old empty pump ![]() Everything removed and time to start again ![]() |

Here is an idea of what I am doing with the plumbing.
Only reason for the one way valves is so I can see when the bags have finished draining. The overflows for the bags are relying on gravity to run out the side of the boat instead of flowing into the other bag. Ill take a finished pic of the plumbing tonight. ![]() |

So got some results of this ballast design.
Fills and empties perfectly. Gets a lot more of the air out of the bags this way and drains them almost dry. Switching between the two is a piece of cake with the remote Y valve control next to the switches. Filled the bags with the hose and it took 8 mins to drain both bags which is a huge improvement, but not perfect. Will be interesting to see how fast they fill with the boat in the lake. Remote "y" valve ![]() New Plumbing ![]() New pump mounting (dont worry, I dont use the ski pole) ![]() |

That is looking good. Where did you get the remote Y valve? Is it electric or what? Do you not have a forward bilge pump near the center drain plug?

This is the valve I used. Its all mechanical so should be reliable.
http://www.iboats.com/Th-Marine-Dive...-view_id.40136 No I dont....and I need one!!! That area is PITA to dry out. I also want to find a way to get a drain hole between the ski locker and the centre bilge that is low enough to dry it out. The current hole that the ballast hose runs through is about an inch up from the bottom so the ski locker has an inch of water sitting in it that never drains out. - Next mission! haha. |

Here's some more pics of it all complete.
Cleaned everything up before it went back together ![]() The remote part of the Y valve - just need to relabel it ![]() All done ![]() ![]() |
