componet speaker question

replacing my clarion components with something like Polk that have the external crossovers - particulary on the upfront speakers (X1), anybody done this and if so, how would you secure the crossovers? I may be missing something, so do they somehow normally secure themselves to the back of the main speaker (just nothing back there to anchor them to, if that makes sense. Thanks for any help

I've seen those and wondered the same thing. In my mind I would think you could use double sided foam tape and stick them to the inside of the hull.

Installed the Polk MM651s in my interior last year. Double sided tape is exactly what I used. Solid speaker, sounds great

I found some NOS Polk MMC6500's on eBay for just over $100...can't be the sound quality for that price point.

I have some DB6501's in the rear speaker area and have the xovers mounted to the rear panel that separates the back seat from the gas tank. But any surface that keeps them from getting wet will do.

the mm6501 tweeters press fit into the older clarion cups in the bow. i used industrial velcro for the crossovers in the front and have not had any issues. i positioned it so that it was resting in the bottom of the "v" between the glass layers, if that makes sense. i'm sure you can likely find them cheaper, but amazon has them for $192 currently. i would think they'll start coming down soon since the momo's are gone, but it's been a while now and they haven't seemed to budge.
