![]() Rusty Malinoski Claims 3rd in Kelwona PWT Stop July 09, 2007 Rusty Malinoski continued his consistent performances this season with a third place finish at the fourth stop of the MasterCraft Pro Wakeboarding Tour. Once again Malinoski battled through the early rounds defeating all of his opponents in his quest to win the overall Pro Tour Title. The water conditions on Lake Okanagan are by far the worst on tour, with two foot white wash rolling down the course, so the challenge of pulling out the money tricks was a little more intense than usual.
For Shane Bonifay this event has some stigma attached, as the Kelowna event was the competition at which he blew his knee out only twelve months ago. After a good recovery, he’s back on the water and has been doing well throughout 2007, but the risk of a repeat injury in such rough conditions is just a little too likely, so Bonifay opted to stay at home training in Florida in preparation for the last stop which is coming up in two weeks time in Portland. Zane Schwenk also dealing with a few knee issues came out to Canada for the event, but after an evaluation of the water conditions used his better judgment and decided against competing.
The final stop on the MasterCraft ProWakeboard Tour will take place at Blue Lake in Portland, OR on the 21st and 22nd of July. For Rusty Malinoski this event will be his biggest ever as he contends for his first overall Pro Tour Title. Only ten points separate Malinoski and Phillip Soven and at this stage it is extremely wide open. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
